Children Book Recommendation: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Happy Friday everyone! I thought it would be fun to end the week by sharing one of my favorite children's books!

The Very Hungry Catepillar from the Overdrive library

As a children's book illustrator, one of my favorite kidlit books as a child was The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a 32-page story based on a very small caterpillar that was born hungry. The caterpillar embarks on a journey, eating various types of food during the week, until one day it has a stomachache. The caterpillar feels better once it finds and eats a leaf. Soon later, the caterpillar begins to transform into a beautiful butterfly.

One of my favorite thing of this about this story is its simplicity. The overall story teaches young children simple themes such as learning how to count, the days of the week, various types of foods, the life cycle of living things, and many more.

Lastly, the colorful artwork is beautifully illustrated with basic shapes and vibrant colors; the use of tissue paper and paint made the illustrations so much more unique and fun for young children who are ages 3 years and older.

All in all, I definitely recommend this book and you can purchase this book via your local bookstore or via amazon!
