Challenging and Fun DIY Miniature Kit to try — Cathy's Flower House

Robotime Minature Kit DIY — Cathy's Garden House

As a crafty person, this Christmas my older sister gifted me my very first miniature DIY model kit; I was super excited when I received it!

To give you a little bit of information about the kit, the product is known as Robotime Miniature Kit DIY DG104 Cathy's Flower House

Robotime is a toy brand that offers a variety of DIY wooden puzzle toys for children in the Asian market.

If you are interested in this model, it is currently available via Amazon or via Robotime's official website.

First Impressions

Cathy's Flower House Package

When I first open the DIY printed cardboard box, I liked how everything was well-packaged; the different building parts came packed in plastic bags. The contents that came with the box included

  • an illustrated instruction manual
  • wooden, metal, and paper materials
  • tools (glue, tweezers, white paint, paint brush)
Because this kit consists of LED lights, I was a little disappointed that it did not come with batteries (the button batteries).

Also, as I was building the kit, I noticed that the wooden pieces were divided between multiple bags rather than one which made it difficult at times to find all the pieces needed to build a single piece of furniture.

Model Building Process

As I started to build the model, the instructions, in general, could be improved — the steps were confusing at times (especially, when assembling some of the plant pieces). I got through the first part of the instructions just fine (building the mini pieces of furniture), but once I got to the second half of the instructions (building the actual framing of Cathy's Greenhouse and the installation of the LED lights), the steps became very confusing for me to follow; the illustrations didn't really help either. Because I spent a long time figuring it out, I decided to watch other tutorials to ensure I was building the model correctly.

Even though that was the case, what I liked most about this kit was assembling the miniatures (the pieces of furniture, potted plants — even though I struggled with some of them, and combing all the pieces together to build the inside of Cathy's Greenhouse). Although I struggled with the second part of the kit, another aspect I liked about the kit was the overall bright colors and the ability of the LED light to actually light up to give the kit a charm,

For my first miniature kit, I had so much fun building this, and it took an average of 20 hours to complete it. Overall, I am happy with the results, and I am excited to try out some of the other kits they have to offer!
