Experience Lego's fun new postcard collection — The Australian Edition

Recently Lego released a new postcard to their postcard series set — the Australian Postcard (model #40651). Lego's Postcard series has been by far my favorite series along with their botanical collection sets, so I am thrilled to see what this set will bring.

The Australia Postcard

In this Australia postcard set, it includes the following features:

• a 3D Australian Postcard: the Australian outback which includes a windmill, sheds, cockatoo, desert flowers, kangaroo sign, eucalyptus trees

First Impressions

When I first opened the small yellow cardboard Lego box, as expected, everything was well-organized. All the lego pieces were placed in their appropriate plastic bags that were listed in the order in which the parts will be built.

The contents that came with the set are:

4 packs of Lego building parts

    • Illustrated instruction manual

   stickers for specific lego pieces

A few extra black lego blocks (used for the base)

Building Process

Overall, the estimated average time it took me to build this set was around 50 mins. Like the previous review, all the illustrations in the manual were illustrated clearly which allowed the builder to follow the instructions seamlessly.

The first plastic bag contains all the parts needed to assemble the base/background setting of the postcard. This stage was pretty simple to assemble.

Part 1: Postcard background

Lastly, the second part of the process was to build the scenery of Australia such as the eucalyptus trees, windmills, sheds, etc. I really enjoyed putting together the windmill (it spins!) and seeing the entire postcard coming together.

Part 2: Assembling Australia's outback

Fully assembled Australia Postcard!

All in all, I enjoyed building this postcard set. I have always wanted to visit Australia as it is such a beautiful country with many great things to offer. Also, as you all know, I love miniature cute things so I really like the size of this product — the product really does replicate the size of a postcard. That being said, I felt like this postcard was kind of average since it was missing a lot of key elements. As a result, the postcard did not really depict Australia as a whole; for example, the set did not include koala bears and its landmark the Sydney Opera House. I thought this was strange since most of Lego's Postcard series has always included one key important element of the city; an example is the Effiel tower for the Paris postcard set.
